Local Walks

Exit the site through the gate under the tree onto Wheldrake Lane, turn left and walk to the traffic lights on the A19, cross the A19 road using the island crossing and turn right, walk past Minster Vets and cross back over the road when you see Strawberry Fields Café.

The public right of way can be found between the Café and the Farm Shop.  The bridleway is suitable for walking a well trained dog off the lead.

You can walk into Fulford this way (around an hour) or follow one of the public rights of way signposted along the route.

Dogs are allowed in The Plough Pub and The Bay Horse Pub in Fulford…maybe walk to the pub for food and drinks and hop on the 415 bus back…

The following websites contain suggested routes around the city and countryside or you could walk on the famous York City Walls around the city.

Cycle Track – Route 65 – York/Selby

The Cycle track is 2 miles from our site. On your bike exit the site through the gate under the tree onto Wheldrake Lane, turn left and cycle to the traffic lights. In your car, drive out of the site onto Wheldrake lane.

At the traffic lights turn left and go past the bus stops and take the first right to Naburn Village.   The cycle track is situated on the old railway line and can be easily found when you get to the overhead bridge.  You can park your car on the verge near the bridge.

(Carry on under the bridge to Naburn Village – Blacksmith Arms Pub and Naburn Marina Café/Restaurant)

This cycle track route will take you all the way to Selby or you can cycle into York Centre on a lovely winding route via the York Racecourse, the old Terrys Chocolate Factory and into the city on the riverside cycle track.

You can cycle into York on the main A19 road.  It is cycling on the main road for 1.3 miles until the approach to the roundabouts and then there is a cycle track taking you safely over the roundabouts and into the city centre.   You can follow the main road into York this way until you pass Aldi/Iceland then take the first left down to the riverside to follow the cycle track the rest of the way into the city.

York is a cycle city and there are many bike tracks/bike lanes throughout the city.  Useful links for routes to follow –
